Temporary Road and Footpath ClosureApplication for a Temporary Road and Footpath Closure

Under Section 138 The Roads Act 1993, this application must be used when applying to swing or hoist goods across or over any part of a public road by means of a lift, hoist or tackle projecting over the footway. Types of mobile hoisting equipment include:

  • Mobile cranes including crane trucks and Hiabs
  • Concrete boom pumps
  • Scissor lifts and boom lifts
  • Cherry pickers and elevated work platforms (EWP)

  •  Note:
    1. This is an application only. You are not permitted to start work until written permission is given by Waverley Council.
    2. If the proposed works affect bus routes or bus stops you must consult with the local bus operator Transdev John Holland Buses to confirm proposed days and times can be accommodated.  The current contact is Bushara.Gidies@transdevjohnholland.com.au  Speak with Council if you are having difficulties making contact.
    Construction ZoneApplication for Construction / Work Zone

    Under Section 138 The Roads Act 1993 

    1. This is an application only and you are not to use the zone until written permission is given by Waverley Council. 
    2. Special purpose vehicles and equipment such as mobile cranes/concrete boom pumps/line pumps/scissor lifts/cherry pickers will require a separate application. 
    3. Construction zones are referred to the Waverley Traffic Committee (WTC) for consideration and then to Council for approval.  Meetings of the WTC are held on the fourth Thursday of the month.  Applications must be received at least three weeks prior to the meeting. 
    4. The WTC cannot approve a construction zone. Instead it makes a recommendation to the next full Council meeting for consideration.

      Council approval is required before installation. The applicant should allow a minimum of six (6) weeks for the approval.

    FilmingCouncil approval is required prior for all filming in public spaces, on footpaths or roads. Use this form to apply for the following Filming application types:
    • Ultra Low (under 10 cast and crew)
    • Low Impact (11-25 crew, minimal equipment, no vehicles)
    • Medium Impact (26-50 crew, max 10 trucks, equipment, unit base)
    • High Impact (More than 50 crew, more than 10 trucks, significant construction, extensive equipment, large unit base)

    PhotographyCouncil approval is required prior for all Photography in public spaces, on footpaths or roads.
    Use this form to apply for the following Photography application types:
    • Ultra Low Ultra Low (1-3 cast/crew)
    • Low Impact (4-10 cast/crew)
    • Medium Impact (11-25 cast/crew)
    • High ImpactHigh Impact (25+ cast/crew)

    Promotions and SamplingThe purpose of promotions and product sampling is to establish a commercial market for goods and services and permits are offered for activities such as onsite activations, new product launches and product sampling and giveaways.
    Weddings and Private CeremoniesCouncil approval is required to conduct a wedding ceremony at Council parks and beaches.

    The most popular spaces are:

    Dudley Page Reserve: An iconic site available for wedding ceremonies and receptions, with stunning harbour views.
    Kay O’Keefe Reserve: A popular site available for wedding ceremonies, with dramatic views of the ocean and Bondi Beach.
    Marks Park: An iconic site available for wedding ceremonies of up to 100 guests, with good views north over Bondi and south towards Coogee.
    Diamond Bay Reserve: A premium site available for wedding ceremonies, with remnant bushland and excellent views over dramatic cliffs.

    Low Impact EventLow Impact Events are classified as events held between 6am-6pm, footprint <50m2, minimal/low level amplification.
    Medium Impact EventMedium Impact Events are classified as events finishing between 6pm and 9pm, involves 100-1000 patrons, footprint between 50m2-150m2, food and/or non-liquor service/sales, low level amplification.
    High Impact EventHigh Impact Events are classified as more than 2000 patrons, finishes after 10pm, footprint >400m2, involves sale supply of liquor, amplified music, fencing, stage, audio visual, substantial road closures, special traffic arrangements, and impacts Council operations.
